First thing is first, finding your Costa Rica wedding location. Finding the right location to get married is no easy task. Most people love the idea of getting married on a beach at sunset and this is our most popular type of ceremony. Luckily Costa Rica has no shortage of coastline with oceans on 2 sides and close to 300 beaches to choose from! Beach weddings are not your only option, many tie the knot with a volcano as the backdrop! From the mountains to the ocean we can bring your adventure elopement trip to life and find the location for you.
Choosing Your Costa Rica Wedding Location – Weather Matters
Your travel planner will go over pros and cons of the different areas and options with you. The time of year and weather is an important factor to consider. Some areas are wetter than others depending on the time of year. Costa Rica has 2 distinct seasons, the dry season or high season, and the wet season or green season. These seasons also occur at different times of the year depending on what coastline you are on.
On the Pacific Coast and inland.
- Green Season May 1st – Dec 1st
- Dry Season Dec 1st – April 30th
On the Caribbean Coast and Atlantic Slope.
- Green Season Most months are pretty wet
- Dry Season Sept 1st – Nov 30th – gorgeous weather
- Sea Turtle Nesting – July 1st – October 31st
The months of April/May and November/December are more transitional months and can have some wet weather and some dry on the Pacific. On the Pacific coast, as a general rule you would want to avoid the months of September and October as these are the wettest on that coastline. During the same months of September and October the Caribbean Coast will be having gorgeous weather as they enter their dry season. No matter what month you want to elope, we will find the right place for you.
Costa Rica Beaches
Some of the more popular beach areas to take the plunge (no pun) are Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Tamarindo, Flamingo Beach, Samara Beach, Coco Beach, Montezuma, to name a few on the Pacific. During the dry season all pacific coast beaches are a great option for a sunset beach wedding. On the Caribbean side during September and October you have Tortuguero, Puerto Viejo and Cahuita as top locations to consider. Depending on the trip you desire we will help find the right beach for your special day.
Costa Rica Volcanoes
We are famous for our nature, our rain forest, our beaches and VOLCANOES! For those who want to stay away from the beach and prefer to get married inland, Arenal Volcano offers many options at every price level for the soon to be couple. In additional to Arenal some other popular options include Poas Volcano, & Rincon de la Vieja. Most trips visit at last one volcano, the hot springs alone are worth the stop! Imagine a newlywed hot air balloon ride near Arenal, something you will never forget!
Costa Rica Cloud Forest
For those who love feeling as though they are on top of the world, a cloud forest wedding might be in order! We have several cloud forest areas, Monteverde being the most famous, cloud forests near Poas and in the central valley also hold romantic and exotic options for an intimate ceremony. You can include a stop to explore the cloud forests on the honeymoon portion of your trip or have the wedding day literally in the clouds!
Costa Rica Rain Forest
We are known worldwide as one of the most bio-diverse countries on Earth. With 5% of the worlds total bio-diversity found onside the borders of our tiny country, we boast more birds, mammals, & reptiles than all of North America!
